Charm School: Are Manners Still Relevant?
What is Charm school, and what does it teach? Sometimes called Finishing schools, these programs focused on teaching social graces. In the 1800s, these schools were established to train young women to become polished, accomplished wives and socialites. In other words, preparing them for marriage.
Let's Make 2023 a Year of Failure
Are you looking for success for your grandkids in 2023? If so, stop reading now.
As we begin a new year, we typically contemplate the changes or enhancements we want to focus on in our upcoming year. You and I probably already have our "to do's or "to change" list ready. Time In a Bottle
If you opened a time capsule from 1971, what would you find?
One of the many things I hope to find is an old vinyl record by Jim Croce, who wrote the soulful song, Time in a Bottle. How many remember it? Here is a teaser of how it began as I take you down memory lane…
“We need much less than we think we need.”― Maya Angelou
This is one of those quotes that speak volumes without too many words. We all have more things than we need, there’s no doubt about that. OK, I wanted to be Annie Oakley, but I'm sure I wanted to be a princess.
How Can Anyone Fail Kindergarten?
When was the first time you failed? Was it an easy fix, or did you need intervention??
As "they" say, learning begins at birth. But I will tell you that my education moved at warp speed since I was a close second to my older sister, who had a mere 11 months on me.
We made the most of our early learning moments, but they were as different as night and day. I had a fragile beginning as I followed behind someone who could quickly comprehend even the vaguest concepts…
