Peanut Blossoms
A Hoge Family Favorite
Sift together:
1 3/4 cups sifted flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
Cream together:
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup peanut butter
Gradually Add:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
Cream well then Add:
1 unbeaten egg
2 Tbsp Milk
1 tsp vanilla
Beat well then blend in dry ingredients
Shape into balls with a melon ball scooper or a rounded teaspoon.
Roll in sugar and place on ungreased cookie sheet being careful they do not slide off.
Bake at 375 for 8 minutes. Remove from the oven and place the chocolate kiss on top. Return to the oven for 2-5 minutes. Let cool before eating.
